Velvet Fabric

A textile with a short, dense pile that creates a soft feel and distinctive light-reflecting surface.

What is Velvet Fabric?

Velvet is characterised by its short pile, which gives the fabric a soft tactile feel and changes its appearance depending on the direction of the pile and light.

Modern furniture velvet can be produced from polyester, cotton, viscose or blended fibres. Synthetic velvet is commonly used in furniture because of its range of colours and performance characteristics.

The durability and maintenance requirements vary according to fibre composition, pile construction and finishing.

Why Does Velvet Fabric Matter?

Velvet adds a luxurious visual and tactile quality to upholstered furniture and is particularly popular for lounge chairs, sofas and accent furniture.
