Vegan leather is a broad term for materials designed to replicate the appearance and feel of leather without using animal hide. Furniture-grade vegan leather is commonly manufactured from synthetic polymers such as polyurethane (PU) or PVC, although some newer materials use plant-derived components.
Performance varies significantly between products. Factors such as coating composition, backing fabric, thickness, surface finish and manufacturing quality influence durability and appearance.
Vegan leather should not automatically be assumed to have the same performance characteristics as genuine leather.
