Polypropylene

A thermoplastic polymer commonly used to manufacture durable furniture components, shells and moulded seating.

What is Polypropylene?

Polypropylene is a lightweight thermoplastic material widely used in furniture manufacturing. It can be injection moulded into complex shapes, making it suitable for chair shells, seats, backs and structural components.

It has good resistance to moisture and many chemicals and can be manufactured in a wide range of colours.

Its suitability depends on the specific formulation, thickness, reinforcement and application. It is particularly common in moulded chairs and outdoor or high-use furniture.

Why Does Polypropylene Matter?

Polypropylene allows manufacturers to produce lightweight, durable and consistently shaped furniture components at scale.
