Locking Mechanism

A chair mechanism that locks the seat or backrest into a selected position.

What is Locking Mechanism?

A locking mechanism allows users to restrict movement in a chair mechanism. Depending on the chair design, it may lock the backrest in an upright position or at one or more reclined angles.

Locking systems vary considerably between chair mechanisms. Some provide a single upright lock, while more advanced mechanisms offer multiple recline positions.

The locking function is generally controlled through a lever integrated into the chair's mechanism.

Why Does Locking Mechanism Matter?

A reliable locking mechanism allows users to maintain a preferred seating position and prevents unwanted movement when stability is required.
