Full-Grain Leather

Leather made from the outer layer of the hide with the natural grain surface substantially preserved.

What is Full-Grain Leather?

Full-grain leather uses the outer surface of the hide with minimal correction of the natural grain. Natural characteristics such as pores, grain variation and minor marks may remain visible.

Because the natural surface is retained, full-grain leather can develop a distinctive patina with use. The quality and appearance still depend on the source hide, tanning process and finishing.

Full-grain leather is generally considered a premium leather category, although the term itself does not guarantee a particular level of craftsmanship or furniture construction.

Why Does Full-Grain Leather Matter?

Full-grain leather preserves more of the natural character of the hide and can develop an attractive aged appearance over time.
